Boston Scientific Corp. Recalls Imaging Catheters

The Boston Scientific Corporation has announced a recall of its iCross Coronary Imaging Catheters after it was discovered that the catheter tips can detach during use. The catheters are used in intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging. If detachment occurs, patients are at risk of “vessel wall injury, thrombotic events, retained foreign body, foreign body embolization, myocardial infarction and death.”
