More issues have been uncovered by federal investigators at another Johnson & Johnson plant. The Lancaster, Pa., plant, which produces heartburn medications, was cited with quality control problems and chaotic record keeping, along with complaints from customers that the medications were ineffective or not in the properly marked bottles. While no recall has been issued, inspectors found that the Lancaster plant “could not ensure that drugs produced there were up to standard.” The Lancaster plant is the third J&J plant to be flagged by the F.D.A. this year.

Jury Awards $114 Mill In Lawsuit against Nursing Home

A Florida jury as ordered a local nursing home to pay $114 to the family of a 76-yaer-old woman who was allegedly abused while staying at the home, and that abuse led to her death. According to the lawsuit, the woman suffered “pressure sores, overmedication, malnourishment and dehydration” during her stay at the home. The award was for $14 million in damages and $100 million in punitive damages.

NFL Team Hid Staph Infection Risk, Lawsuit Says

Former NFL center LeCharles Bentley has filed a lawsuit against the Cleveland Browns over a staph infection he contracted while using the team facilities for rehabilitation. The lawsuit claims that Bentley was not made aware that numerous other players had contracted staph infections in the past from the same facility. Bentley is accusing the team of fraud and negligent misrepresentation in the suit.

Lawsuit Against Pfizer Inc. Reinstated in California

The California Supreme Court has reinstated a lawsuit filed by pharmacies against Pfizer Inc. that accuses the company of price fixing. The lawsuit claims that Pfizer and other drug companies conspired together to keep cheaper medications from Canada out of the U.S. The suit was dismissed by a lower court in 2008 after Pfizer argued that the pharmacies weren’t harmed because the higher prices were passed on to customers. That argument was rejected earlier this week and the case was sent back down to an Oakland, Calif., trial court.
