Washington County Settles Suit over Sheriff’s Fatal Wreck

Pierce County, Wash., has agreed to settle a $1.65 million wrongful death lawsuit with the family of a local man who was hit and killed by a sheriff’s patrol car. The suit accuses the deputy driving the vehicle of negligence and reckless; he struck the victim while on his way to respond to a call. The sheriff’s department maintained the incident was a “tragic accident.”
