Work Accident Attorney in Colorado Springs
Personal Injury Guidance Informed by Medical Experience
Work injuries can raise overlapping questions about medical treatment, employment, insurance, and responsibility for the accident. At The Law Firm of Ted Bills, we review the circumstances with injured workers and determine whether a case fits our personal injury practice.
Ted Bills is a Colorado Springs native with more than 20 years of experience handling personal injury auto accident cases. Before practicing law, he worked in an emergency room and trauma center at a local hospital and assisted orthopedic surgeons. That medical background helps us understand and prove the extent of injuries. Our firm has recovered more than $500 million for injury clients.
Call (719) 444-1000 to discuss your workplace accident and whether your circumstances warrant a personal injury evaluation.
Work Accidents That May Require Legal Review
An injury doesn’t have to result from a single event. Repeated physical demands can also cause harm over time. We begin an evaluation by examining how the injury happened, its connection to the worker’s duties, and which insurance policies or responsible parties may be involved.
Work-related injuries may arise from:
- Falls from heights or on unsafe walking surfaces
- Machinery and equipment accidents
- Repetitive-motion injuries caused by recurring job duties
- Explosions and other sudden workplace incidents
- Vehicle-related injuries that occur while working
The facts of the incident and the available medical evidence shape the legal issues that require attention. Employment records, witness information, and the identity of those involved may also be relevant when assessing a potential claim.
How Workplace Injury Costs May Be Covered
Workers’ Compensation Benefits
These benefits can address medical care, lost wages, and disability connected to a workplace injury. Eligibility and available benefits depend on the circumstances, medical findings, and applicable Colorado requirements. A worker’s immigration status isn’t a factor in determining eligibility for workers’ compensation benefits in Colorado.
Third-Party Involvement
A third-party claim concerns a person or business other than the employer that may have contributed to an injury. Identifying another potentially responsible party doesn’t establish that a separate claim is available. The incident facts, legal relationships, and evidence must be evaluated before reaching that conclusion.
Uninsured Employers
An injured worker should still file the Worker’s Claim for Compensation, Form WC15, when an employer didn’t carry workers’ compensation insurance. Benefits may be available through the Colorado Uninsured Employer Fund, subject to its requirements and the facts of the claim.
